The retreaded tyre trend according to AIRP estimates

There is growing interest in retreaded tyres by the haulage and public transport sector.
According to estimates by the Italian Retreaders’ Association (AIRP), in 2011 the use of retreaded tyres for light transport increased by 11.8%, and the truck segment, for which retreated tyres already represent a good proportion of the replacement tyres purchased, consolidated its 2010 position.
Considerable savings can be made by buying retreaded tyres and they also have the important advantage of being environmentally friendly. Retreading lengthens the life of a tyre and postpones the destruction of worn tyres.
Moreover, since the ECE ONU 108 and 109 regulations on manufacturing procedures came into force, retreaded tyres have exactly the same characteristics of reliability and safety as new tyres and the savings they offer are particularly appreciated at a time when transport firms are struggling to make ends meet because of the strong increase in fuel prices.
