Apollo Vredestein aims to further consolidate its position in the all-season tire segment in Europe with a new All-Season tire: the Quatrac Pro. Vredestein has been offering all-season tires in Europe for over 26 years and the new Quatrac Pro is, according to the manufacturer, the first All-Season tire developed specifically for the growing Ultra High Performance (UHP) segment and for cars such as the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, the Volvo XC90 and the BMW 5 Series. The new Quatrac Pro comes in sizes ranging from 17 to 21 inches.
Design and performance
The new Quatrac Pro represents the summary of decades of experience and delivers the performance required by powerful UHP vehicles. The new all-season tire offers excellent performance and a short braking distance in both dry and wet conditions, eliminating the need for a seasonal tire replacement. Even sudden climate changes are no big deal for the Quatrac Pro, as it offers 10% more wet grip and 5% better performance on snow-clad roads compared to its predecessor. The values measured are based on in-house test data from the previous Quatrac 5 245/45 R18 100Y XL. Like other Vredestein tires, the Quatrac Pro bears the Italdesign Giugiaro logo. Therefore, this tire does more than just look good, it guarantees surprising performance on all kinds of roads and in all weather conditions.
High performance design and structure
The advanced technology used in the Quatrac Pro boasts wider asymmetrical longitudinal grooves in the shoulder area. This feature improves water drainage and ensures safety in wet conditions, even at high speed. In addition, the large central grooves guarantee superior handling and control required on Ultra-high-performance vehicles. The totally new compound has a high silica and resin content for excellent traction on both wet and snowy roads. At the same time, the sipes in the middle section of the tread are designed to ensure more than adequate traction on snow thanks also to the even distribution of pressure. In addition, the tire's characteristic winter and summer sidewalls are perfectly at home in all conditions throughout the year. Performance on snow and ice is guaranteed by the 3PMSF (Three Peak Mountain SnowFlake) symbol, which means that the Quatrac Pro meets the European winter tire regulations (ECE R117) and all related markings and labelling requirements.
The Quatrac Pro was presented to European dealers and international journalists on the Baden-Baden Airpark test track. There, the Quatrac Pro All-Season tire impressed all in attendance showing to be perfectly at ease driving at high speed in wet conditions and in handling tests where the vehicle’s direct response to steering is of paramount importance.
With the launch of Quatrac Pro, Vredestein is looking at gaining significant positions in the All-Season tire market segment and, according to its own data, is already able to offer the widest choice of sizes, in this class, on the European market. Sales began on 1st April 2019 with 50 sizes available. Of these, 29 boast speed code Y (up to 300 km/h). According to Vredestein, 14 sizes are absolutely unique in this segment, including a 315/35 R20 for the rear axle of the popular BMW X5. Vredestein's well-established and successful Quatrac 5 all-season tire, though, will remain in the brand's tire portfolio, as an effective and well tested all-season option in the smaller tire segment.
