Goodyear launched two new tires designed for the summer and all season markets respectively, the EfficientGrip Performance 2 and the Vector 4Seasons Gen-3. Goodyear engineers, starting from the previous versions, have designed a tread using a number of technological innovations that have resulted in improved mileage and braking in both dry and wet conditions.
EfficientGrip Performance 2
The EfficientGrip Performance 2 tire has been designed for cars with 15-18 inch wheels and is dedicated to drivers who are looking for high mileage and high levels of braking performance in both dry and wet conditions. The EfficientGrip Performance 2 features a highly flexible tread which reduces tire wear caused by difficult road conditions without compromising performance. Longer grooves, combined with a less rigid compound than its predecessor, improve water evacuation and reduce wet braking distances. While the wide ribs in the centre of the tread ensure greater rigidity and increased stability in situations of emergency. Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance 2 comes in 45 sizes which will be phased in during the course of the year. "With the new EfficientGrip Performance 2 Goodyear has set itself the ambitious goal to introduce the best HP summer tire in the market," said Elena Versari, gm consumer at Goodyear Tires Italia. Internal tests show that we have achieved our goal. Today we can offer a must-have solution for drivers who are looking to get the maximum possible mileage out of their tires and want the guarantee of a top class performer. Thanks to the efforts of our team of designers and engineers, our EfficientGrip Performance 2 can carry around our customers for many more kilometres than in the past.
Vector 4Seasons Gen-3
Goodyear's four-season tire range is a key asset for the company: the new Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 is the latest tire developed for this fast growing sector. Drivers who decide to purchase four-season tires are looking for 3 main features: safety in all weather conditions and excellent grip and braking performance both on dry and wet roads. Goodyear's Dry Handling technology uses robust tread and shoulder blocks to reduce tire deformation during the most demanding manoeuvres, ensuring 5% better dry braking compared to the Vector 4Seasons Gen-2. The Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 maintains the same level of aquaplaning resistance as its predecessor thanks to Goodyear's Aqua Control technology, which uses deep, wide grooves in the tread able to change over time, thus maintaining constant water evacuation capacity and anti-aquaplaning features throughout the life of the tire. Thanks to Goodyear's Snow Grip technology, the Vector 4Seasons Gen-3's extended siping in the centre of the tread provides 5% better snow grip than the previous generation-3. The new Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 is available in over 80 sizes ranging from 14" to 19", which will be phased in over the course of 2020 and early 2021. The tire has also obtained a series of type-approvals as original equipment and by the end of the year will be adopted, as standard equipment, on cars such as the Peugeot 2008/3008/5008, the DS3 Crossback and the DS7 Crossback.
